Civil Air Patrol, the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, was formed on December 1st, 1941. Today, CAP performs search and rescue, disaster relief, and counter drug missions, and also takes a leading role in America's aerospace education programs. Finally, CAP members serve as mentors to the 27,000 young people participating in CAP's youth programs.
