Major Mike McCoury Assumes Command at NC-307

8/4/2019––The Guilford Composite Squadron Commander, Capt Craig Myrick, relinquished Command to Maj Mike McCoury in a ceremony on Thursday, 1 August 2019 at the squadron's headquarters. 

Civil Air Patrol's (CAP) North Carolina Wing Commander, Col R. Jason Bailey, officiated at the Change of Command ceremony, with the Group Four Commander, Lt Col Matthew Phillips in official attendance.  
 
After relinquishing Command, Capt Myrick spoke about how the squadron began, thanked all the members for making it the success it has become and lauded the accomplishments of 1st Lt Abby Feinstein for her relentless work in creating and maintaining the squadron's cadet program.
 
Maj McCoury, the incoming Commander, thanked Capt Myrick for helping build the squadron into the success it is today.  He said, "I'm looking forward to serving the squadron and building onto the great success from the service of Capt Myrick.” He also discussed the importance of the squadron continuing to apply CAP’s core values, not only in squadron activities, but also in life.

The Change of Comand ceremony concluded with both Col Bailey and Lt Col Phillips expressing their confidence in Maj McCoury and the importance of members taking ownership in their squadrons.
 
Immediately following the ceremony, the attendees were treated to cake, brownies and fellowship.
