Triple Award is First in Squadron History

10/19/2017––The Apex Cadet Squadron celebrated a number of cadet achievements on 12 October 2017. Cadets, senior members and parents gathered that evening to witness the promotions and awards ceremony. The awards included three Amelia Earhart Awards presented to C/Capt Jonathan Sellers, C/Capt Susane Toebes, and C/Capt Gladys Toebes.

The evening presentation started with the promotion of Cadets Tyler LaNeve and Noelle Pereira to C/Amn, followed by the promotion of Cole Waldrop to C/A1C, Victor Haxholdt to C/SrA, and Juliana Salcido to C/SMSgt. Then on to the first triple Amelia Earhart Award presentation in the history of the Squadron!

The three Amelia Earhart awards were presented by the Group 2 Commander, Maj Brendan Kearns, on behalf of Wing Commander Col R. Jason Bailey and the NCWG.

The Amelia Earhart Award is given to cadets who have completed the first 11 achievements of the cadet program. Cadets must pass a comprehensive exam covering aerospace topics and leadership theory. In addition, they must complete staff duty reports, mentor other cadets in aerospace training, pass a physical fitness exam, and lead moral leadership discussions. With the presentation of their awards, C/Capt Jonathan Sellers, C/Capt Susane Toebes, and C/Capt Gladys Toebes joined the only five percent of cadets nationwide to earn the Award.

After completion of the ceremony, cadets, parents and Senior Members joined together in celebration with refreshments organized by supporting parents.
