NC-082 Holds Flightline for the Canadian Snowbirds' Airshow

5/3/2017–WINSTON-SALEM, NC–For the third year in a row, the Carolina Air and Auto Center hosted the "Snowbirds" - the Canadian Forces' 431 Demonstration Squadron. Alongside Aviation Explorers Post 727, cadets from the Winston-Salem Composite Squadron had the honor of holding the flightline for the Snowbirds.

Several hundred people gathered at Smith Reynolds Airport in Winston-Salem some time before the airshow started to have a look at the smaller planes lined up prior to the show, as well as the ready-for-action Snowbirds. The show team flies eleven CT-114 Tutors. The CAP cadets were at the ready, assertively holding the line, and preventing any possible accidents.
 
The Snowbirds made real use of the squadron for this event. In addition to flightline security, squadron members handed out the brochures that the pilots signed for the crowd. Immediately after the show, the NC-082 cadets were the only people to get a photograph with the Snowbirds' pilots. Capt Doug Moody noted that the Snowbirds treated the CAP cadets favorably, in appreciation for all their hard work.  
 
While the airshow was a volunteer job and all of the cadets were quite honored to be part of the experience, there is really nothing like the exhilaration of being right in front for an airshow - holding the line and serving the community.
