C/1st Lt Blaise Thibodeaux has unique opportunity to present Cadet Program in the Capitol

4/3/2017––Cadet/1st Lt Blaise Thibodeaux, Cunningham Composite Squadron, MCAS Cherry Pt, was recently selected by 1st Lt Kate Maxfield, NCWG director of Cadet Programs, and Col R. Along with C/Capt John Harwell (Cadet Commander of NC-124, Hickory Comp Squadron) C/lst Lt Thibodeaux spoke with Congressmen, Representatives and Senators from North Carolina to seek support for appropriations for a $3.1 million advancement in CAP's national budget.

Wing Commanders and cadets from all over the nation traveled to the Capitol to be a part of this event. Many NCWG representatives were also in attendance. The group was broken up into two teams: Col R. Jason Bailey, Maj Ed Angelovich and C/1st Lt Thibodeaux in one and Maj Dennis Bissell, Col David Crawford and C/Capt Harwell in the other. Each team visited multiple Representatives or their Legislative Assistants in their Capitol offices.

Most notable for C/1st Lt Thibodeaux was visiting with Rep. Walter B. Jones, District 3, Craven County, who had much to say in support of the CAP program. Rep. Jones has visited the Cunningham squadron several times to present awards. He asked many questions about C/1st Lt Thibodeaux's interests in the Cadet Program. After the meeting, Rep. Jones went on Twitter expressing his thanks to CAP for their support during the aftermath of hurricane Matthew.
