6/23/2015––The Iredell Composite Squadron bid best wishes and Good Luck to our own C/COL John Robertson, as he departs for duty as a Cadet at the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs Colarado.

John will go from Cadet Colonel to "Basic Cadet" as he begins Basic Cadet Training.  Challenges are nothing new to John.  Since joining the Civil Air Patrol, john has excelled at everything he has attempted.

John was the first Cadet to make it past Cadet First Lieutenant since the Iredell Composite Squadron was founded.  This was not the last "First" for John.  He progressed as far in the CAP Cadet Program as he could go.  He was selected for the International Air Cadet Exchange Program, going to Australia.  John earned the coveted Spaatz Award, his Glider Pilot Wings and finally his Private Pilot Wings before reporting the the Academy.

Thursday evening, John attended his last CAP meeting prior to departing for Colorado.  He spoke to the Squadron's Cadets, answered questions and took the opportunity to encourage his fellow Cadets to set and reach their goals.

John would appreciate cards and letters from his CAP family.  Basic Training is tough, a word of encouragement can go a very long way on a tough day.  He will not be allowed to receive any food items or care packages until AFTER Aug 4th.  His Address is:
BASIC CADET JOHN ROBERTSON
