Color Guard and Marching Team Highlighted

10/10/2014–– Article written by 2d Lt Shelly Willis and SM Kimberlie Willians-feth

On September 27, 2014 the Apex Cadet Squadron participated in the Fuquay Varina Downtown Bounty Celebration.  Cadets assisted numerous local small business owners and vendors with setting up approximately 50+ booths and tents. Numerous vendors commented on the professionalism of the cadets with their efficiency and teamwork.  After several hours of hard work, the cadets took a short break before the festivities began.

The Mayor Pro Tem of Fuquay Varina, Charlie Adcock, introduced the Apex Color Guard to open the celebration with the presentation of the colors.  C/2dLt Willis carried the American Flag while C/SrA Terway carried the North Carolina flag. Rifles on either end were carried by C/SrA Baldauff and C/SrA Hausner. The remaining cadets and the squadron commander stood at attention in formation along the street. The presence of the squadron at the Downtown Bounty Celebration was memorable for all involved.

After the ceremony, the cadets enjoyed a fun time together having pizza and ice cream.
