NC Wing Members Get Top Awards At MER Conference

Safety, Communications, Finance and Ground Team Gain “Of The Year” Awards

Members of the NC Wing were honored at the annual Middle East Region Conference held on April 24,2010 in Richmond, VA. The MER “Of The Year” (OTY) awards honor  those individuals whose work over the past year far exceeds normal expectations.

Awards received by the NC Wing were as follows:

Communications: Capt. Kertis Henderson. Henderson is the Director of Communications for the NC Wing. He is also a member of the Burlington Composite Squadron.

Finance: The OTY award for finance was presented to 1st Lt. John Greene for his work with the Asheville Composite Squadron.

Ground Team: Col. Dion E. DeCamp of The Burlington Composite Squadron received the Ground Team OTY Award.

Safety: Col. Roy Douglass accepted the Paul Turner Award for Safety. In 2008, the Turner award was first granted to the NC Wing at the MER level and went on to receive National Recognition. In 2009 the NC Wing duplicated this feat and at this MER Conference, for the third consecutive year, it earned top safety honors again. According to Maj. Dan McCollum, NC Safety program director, the wing is now in the running for National recognition once again.
